Message for poultry exhibitors - the RBSTNI Committee would like to respectfully request that only poultry exhibits entered for the Show and Sale are brought on to the site at Gosford on Saturday. If anyone is collecting any other birds can they please do so outside the park.

The 2019 Rare Breed Survival Trust Northern Ireland Support Group Annual Show and Sale was launched recently at Tannaghmore Rare Breed Farm Park, and rare breed supporters welcomed their newest resident, beautiful Connemara pony Sarah. We were delighted to be joined by the Deputy Mayor of Armagh Margaret Tinsley, an enthusiastic rare breed supporter. Our Chairman Brian Kelly is pictured with Tannaghmore's Richard McKitterick, RBSTNI Committee members and young rare breed supporters. All are looking forward to the 17th August.

SAVE THE DATE - Our Annual Show and Sale at Gosford Forest Park is being held on Saturday 17th August 2019.

Schedule and entry forms for cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, equines and crafts now available to download......don't delay, closing date is 31st July.

The Annual Show and Sale at Gosford is organised by the Rare Breed Survival Trust (RBST) Northern Ireland Support Group and is the only event of its kind in Northern Ireland. Entries for show and sale will include sheep, cattle, and poultry while pigs and equines will be presented for show only.

The RBST Northern Ireland Support Group welcomes everyone with an interest in our native livestock breeds to our Show and Sale, whether it be pigs, poultry, cattle, sheep or equines. It is also an interesting and enjoyable family day out. The Rare Breed Survival Trust is the UK’s only charity dedicated to ensuring the diversity of our native livestock breeds so that future generations can continue to benefit from working with these wonderful animals.

Meet Northern Ireland's First Bagot Goat Herd

Tannaghmore Rare Breed Animal Farm near Lurgan was officially designated as Northern Ireland’s first RBST Approved Farm Park on the 15th December 2017 and has recently established Northern Ireland’s first rare breed Bagot goat herd. The Bagot is one of only two native goat breeds and the breed is listed in the vulnerable category on the RBST Watchlist with only 200 to 300 registered breeding females remaining. Tannaghmore park is open to members of the public to visit free of charge.

The Rare Breed Survival Trust is the UK's only charity dedicated to conserving native livestock genetics. You can play your part by going to and becoming a member. If you want to find out more get in touch with the committee and learn more about these wonderful breeds.
